On Wednesday afternoon, the Big 12 landed one of the top opposite hitters in the Treasure Coast area. Central (Fort Pierce) junior opposite hitter Brenna Tietz has committed to the University of West Virginia, according to head coach Christy Quigley.
Tietz, chose the University of West Virginia over notable schools such as Auburn, Florida International, UCF, USF, Wake Forest & several others. Tietz also joins her former teammate Kylee Quigley who is now playing division one volleyball at Jacksonville State.
Tietz, on why she chose West Virginia. "Meeting the team, the coaches & the staff made the experience a whole lot better." I am ready for a new challenge as I have lived here in Florida for most of my life", Tietz added.
Tietz, currently plays for the Club Med Volleyball Academy based in Port St. Lucie, where she is coached by Melissa Piazza. During the school season this year, Tietz had 248 kills, 51 total blocks & 52 digs, where the Cobras finished 23-3 & lost to Palm Beach Gardens in last night's Class 7A Regional Semifinal. She had a season-high 17 kills & 5 total blocks in an October 3 match vs Palm Beach Gardens, that resulted in a 5-set win for the Cobras.
Tietz was named on the Treasure Coast Prep Zone's All-area volleyball team as a sophomore last year.
