Today's recruiting profile takes us to the second most highly recruited player in the Tampa Bay area for the 2021 class. Plant City two-sport star Mario Williams has exploded on the recruiting scene since the end of his freshman season.
Last year, Williams had 51 catches, for 950 receiving yards & had 14 receiving touchdowns, leading Plant City to a 9-2 record, before losing to Braden River, 28-23 in the opening round of the 2019 FHSAA Football playoffs. Williams, also hit .280, with 4 doubles & 3 triples last season & helped the Raiders win their first baseball state title in school history last season.
Williams, said "I want to help my football team also win their first state championship, by the time I graduate."
So far this season, Williams has 19 catches, for 548 receiving yards & 6 receiving touchdowns in 6 games for the Raiders. Williams also has 2 carries, for 8 yards this season.
Williams, has a total of 25 offers through the recruiting process so far from schools such as Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Iowa State & several others.
Back in July, Williams revealed his top 15 schools, but did not specify a certain order (Notre Dame, LSU, Miami, Arkansas, West Virginia, South Carolina, Alabama, Michigan, Arizona State, Georgia, Florida State, Oregon, Oklahoma, Florida & Tennessee).
Williams is ranked the 49th overall prospect in the nation, according to 247Sports.com, as well as the 6th ranked wide receiver in the nation & the 7th ranked prospect in the state of Florida, according to 247Sports.com.
Williams & his Plant City Raiders (2-4) will prepare for a "Battle between the top recruits in Tampa Bay", as they host Agiye Hall & the Armwood Hawks (5-1) on Friday night.
