Tampa Bay High School Top 10 Volleyball Rankings (Week 5)

We are nearing the midway point of the high school volleyball regular season, as some weekend tournaments took place over the weekend. Expect this week's rankings to be shuffled a bit.


1. Calvary Christian (11-0)

Last Week: Defeated Shorecrest Prep (3-0), Defeated Carrollwood Day (3-1), Defeated Berkeley Prep (3-0)

This Week: @ Tampa Catholic (Tues.), @ St. Petersburg Catholic (Thu.), Berkeley Premier Tournament (Fri.-Sat.)


The Lady Warriors are at the top of the Tampa Bay rankings for the first time this season. Senior Cathryn Long leads the team, with 162 kills this season.


2. Bishop McLaughlin (9-1)

Last Week: Lost to Santa Fe (3-0)

This Week: vs Berkeley Prep (Tues.), vs Vanguard (Fri.), vs Port Charlotte (Fri.), vs Bishop Moore (Sat.)


The Hurricanes 35-match regular season winning streak, dating back to last season snapped in a tough 3-set loss at Santa Fe (2018 Class 6A Runner-ups).

Junior Audrey Koenig leads the team with 95 kills & 20 aces this season.


3. Wharton (13-1)

Last Week: Defeated Bloomingdale (3-0), Defeated Alonso (3-0), Defeated Robinson (3-1)

This Week: @ Riverview (Tues.), vs Newsome (Thu.)


The Lady Wildcats are coming off a 3-0 week, only dropping a single set through the entire week.

Senior Jeanette Henderson leads the team, with 105 kills on the season. Junior Payton Kenny also leading the team with 24 serving aces this season.


4. St. Petersburg (10-1)

Last Week: Defeated Tarpon Springs (3-1), Lost to Osceola (3-1)

This Week: Defeated Countryside (3-0), @ Largo (Tues.), Boca Ciega (Wed.), @ Palm Harbor University (Thu.)


The Green Devils suffered their first loss of the season to a tough Osceola squad.

Junior Kate Youmans leads the team with 84 kills so far this season. Junior Nicole Robison is leading the team with 24 serving aces this season.


5. Osceola (5-0)

Last Week: Defeated Seminole (3-0), Defeated St. Petersburg (3-1)

This Week: vs Palm Harbor University (Tues.), vs Seminole (Wed.)


The Lady Warriors have only dropped a single set through their first 5 games of the season. Senior Kalli Cors is leading the team, with 46 kills & 18 serving aces so far this season.


6. Steinbrenner (13-3)

Last Week: Defeated Alonso (3-0), Defeated Leto (3-0), Defeated Riverview (3-0)

This Week: vs Tarpon Springs (Tues.), vs Plant (Wed.)


The Lady Warriors have won 5 straight matches & have only dropped 1 set during their streak.

"I feel like this team is destined to make a deep run into the playoffs, but we gotta get there first." According to 2nd year head volleyball coach Sabrina Christofilis.

Sophomore Nina Moorer is leading the team, with 126 kills this season.


7. Robinson (5-2)

Last Week: Defeated Blake (3-0), Lost to Wharton (3-1)

This Week: Defeated Newsome (3-0), vs Plant (Tues.), @ Sickles (Wed.)


The Lady Knights' have a tough week's slate of games, that started last night vs Newsome, where they won in straight sets.

The Lady Knights have 3 matches in 3 days, which Robinson head volleyball coach Kylee Gorngpratum called "A huge week, to see where we are at."


8. Keswick Christian (9-2)

Last Week: Defeated Cambridge Christian (3-0)

This Week: Defeated Admiral Farragut (3-0), @ Bayshore Christian (Tues.), vs Northside Christian (Thu.), @ Hernando Christian (Fri.)


Keswick Christian is ranked in the Tampa Bay Top 10 for the first time this season, as head coach Karrmayne King is five wins away from 500 for her career.

Sophomore Sydney Jackwin is leading the team, with 134 kills & 41 serving aces so far this season.

Head Coach Karrmayne King can pick up her 500th win at the earliest (Tuesday, September 24 vs North Tampa Christian)


9. Newsome (5-2)

Last Week: Won at Durant (3-0), Won vs Strawberry Crest (3-2)

This Week: Lost vs Robinson (3-0), vs Kissimmee Osceola (Tues.), @ Wharton (Thu.)


The Lady Wolves have a three match schedule this week, as they face some high quality opponents, as it all started last night vs Robinson.

Senior Julia La Rue leads the team, with 57 kills & 11 serving aces so far this season.


10. Clearwater Central Catholic (8-3)

Last Week: Defeated Tampa Bay HEAT (3-0), Went 3-3 at the Louisville Invitational Volleyball Tournament.

This Week: vs Academy of the Holy Names (Fri.), vs Palm Harbor University (Fri.), Berkeley Premier Invitational (Sat.)


The Lady Marauders dropped in this week's rankings, despite going 3-3 over the weekend at the Louisville Invitational tournament.

Senior Linsey Harrison is leading the team, with 102 kills so far this season.


On The Bubble: Academy of the Holy Names (6-4), Berkeley Prep (6-4), Carrollwood Day (11-6), Plant (7-4), Sunlake (7-4), Tampa Prep (9-4), Wiregrass Ranch (9-4)
