CLEARWATER, Fla.- Calvary Christian senior outside hitter Cate Long has continued to impress her new teammates, even if she's been playing here in the Sunshine State for a couple years now.
Long, is leading the team with 113 kills so far on the season in just 20 sets played (5.65 kills/set). Long, along with her twin sister Jennafer & family moved to Clearwater, from Illinois at the beginning of their junior seasons. Cate Long is currently committed to play division one volleyball at Clemson University, where she has been committed to play since her sophomore year.
Long says "she has enjoyed & loved", playing under 2nd year head volleyball coach Kim Whitney, who is a former division one volleyball standout at Kansas State where she played from 1997-2000.
I covered Long's match vs Academy of the Holy Names last week, where she had 12 kills, 11 digs & 2 serving aces in a 3-0 win. Long & her Calvary Christian teammates also went 5-0 on their win to win the Inaugural Warrior Invitational this past weekend.
Calvary Christian (8-0) will resume play tonight vs Shorecrest Prep at Anderson Athletic Center in Clearwater.
