Tampa Bay Top 10 High School Boys Basketball Rankings (Week of Jan 13-17)

We are approaching the final few weeks of the high school basketball regular season, in the Tampa Bay area & the state of Florida. Some shuffling has been made in this week's rankings, following the Clearwater Shootout & the St. Pete Shootout. Find out where your team is ranked below.


1. East Lake (15-0)

This Week: vs Palm Harbor University (Tues.), vs Gaither (Fri.), vs Doral Academy (Sat.) (Wally Keller Classic)


The East Lake Eagles remain #1 in this week's Tampa Bay area boys basketball rankings, as they are coming off a 4-0 week, with wins over Clearwater, Largo, Freedom & Seffner Christian. Senior Dionte Blanch leads the team, averaging 25.3 points per game this season & junior Dean Gabrelcik, leads the team averaging 7.1 rebounds per game this season. East Lake will be back in action tomorrow night, as they host Palm Harbor University.


2. Wharton (12-0)

This Week: @ Riverview (Mon.), @ Steinbrenner (Tues.), vs Plant (Fri.)


The Wharton Wildcats are one of two remaining unbeaten teams in the Tampa Bay area (East Lake) as they sit at 12-0 coming into this week. Wharton is coming off a 2-0 week, where they had wins against Sickles & Alonso. The Wildcats will continue their four game away swing tonight, as they travel to Riverview High School.


3. Lakewood (12-2)

This Week: vs Dunedin (Mon.), @ St. Petersburg (Fri.), vs South Miami (Sat.) (Wally Keller Classic)


The Lakewood Spartans climb back inside the Top 5, as they come in this week at #3 in the Tampa Bay boys basketball rankings. The Spartans are coming off a 3-0 week, with wins over Pinellas Park, Clearwater & Anclote. Senior Jamille Reynolds leads the team, averaging 17.7 points per game & 6.1 rebounds per game this season. Lakewood is back in action tonight, as they host Dunedin High School.


4. Tampa Prep (13-1)

This Week: vs Sunlake (Tues.), @ Calvary Christian (Thu.), vs Land O'Lakes (Sat.) (Ulrich Family Classic)


The Tampa Prep Terrapins are inside the Top 5 for the first time this season, as they come in at #4. The Terrapins come into play this week, on a six-game winning streak dating back to 12/23/2019 vs Tampa Catholic. Senior Gabriel Sharp clipped the 1,000 point milestone last week. The Terrapins are back in action tomorrow night, as they host Sunlake High School.


5. Berkeley Prep (11-2)

This Week: @ Bishop McLaughlin (Tues.), vs Brooks-DeBartolo (Fri.)


The Berkeley Prep Buccaneers fall from #3 to #5 in this week's Tampa Bay area boys basketball rankings, following their 52-46 loss vs Tampa Prep last game. The Buccaneers will continue their two-game road swing tomorrow night, as they travel to Bishop McLaughlin.


6. Blake (14-2)

This Week: vs Robinson (Tues.), @ Jesuit (Thu.), vs Middleton (Fri.)


The Blake Yellow Jackets climb into #6, in this week's Tampa Bay boys basketball rankings. The Yellow Jackets come into this week, on a six-game winning streak & have scored 70+ points in each of the six games. Sophomore Emmanuel Sharp is averaging 34.2 points per game this season to lead the team. Blake is back in action tomorrow night, as they host Robinson High School.


7. Clearwater (11-3)

This Week: @ Bayshore (Mon.), @ Countryside (Fri.), vs Sebring (Sat.) (Seminole Shootout)


The Clearwater Tornadoes come into this week, ranked #7 in the Tampa Bay area boys basketball rankings. Head Coach Kristopher Foote recorded his 100th career coaching win on Saturday night, as they defeated Tampa Bay Tech 85-63. Senior Max Jones leads the team averaging 23.7 points per game this season. Clearwater is back in action tonight, as they travel to Bayshore High School in Bradenton.


8. Tampa Catholic (11-5)

This Week: vs St. Kevin's (Australia) (Mon.), @ Leesburg (Fri.)


The Tampa Catholic Crusaders remain at #8 in this week's Tampa Bay area Boys Basketball rankings, despite defeating Jesuit 52-41 in their last game. The Crusaders trailed 41-36, with 5:30 remaining in the game & finished the game on a 16-0 run in their win over Jesuit. Tampa Catholic is back in action tonight, as they host St. Kevin's College (Out of Melbourne, Australia). Senior Johni Broome leads the team averaging 18.9 points & 11.4 rebounds per game this season.


9. Riverview (11-1)

This Week: vs Wharton (Mon.), @ Durant (Tues.), vs Lennard (Fri.)


Welcome to the Tampa Bay area boys basketball rankings for the first time this season, the Riverview Sharks. Riverview comes into this week at #9. The Sharks come into play this week, on a five-game winning streak. The Riverview Sharks welcome their first test of the season, as they host #2 Wharton tonight.


10. Hillsborough (12-4)

This Week: @ Palmetto (Mon.), @ Tampa Bay Tech (Tues.), @ King (Fri.)


The Hillsborough Terriers are back inside the Tampa Bay Top 10 Boys Basketball rankings for the first time in almost a month. The Terriers come into this week, on a six-game winning streak & begin a four-game away swing tonight. Senior Cantia Rahming reached the 1,000 point milestone last week & is leading the team, averaging 21.9 points per game this season. Hillsborough is back in action, tonight as they travel to Palmetto High School.
