Tampa Bay High School Top 10 Softball Rankings (Week of March 9-13)

1. Durant (5-0)

This Week: @ Freedom (Tues.), @ Brandon (Thu.)


Welcome the Durant Lady Cougars softball team, as the new #1 team in our Tampa Bay area softball rankings. The Lady Cougars have gone three straight games without allowing a run (Plant City, Strawberry Crest & Bloomingdale). Senior Kelly Swank currently leads the team, with 11 RBI's on the season. Durant is back in action, tonight as they travel to Freedom High School.


2. Alonso (6-0)

This Week: vs Wharton (Tues.)


The Alonso Lady Ravens check in at #2, in this week's Tampa Bay area softball rankings. The Lady Ravens won their only game last week, 18-12 over Palm Harbor University. Senior outfield Ah-Nayia Oglesby had a team-high four RBI's in their win over Palm Harbor University. Alonso is back in action tonight, as they host Wharton High School.


3. Sunlake (6-1)

This Week: @ Land O'Lakes (Tues.), @ Mitchell (Thu.)


The Sunlake Seahawks drop to #3 in this week's Tampa Bay area softball rankings, after suffering their first loss of the season. The Lady Seahawks are led by junior Kendra Falby (Florida verbal commit), who is hitting a team best .643. The Seahawks are back in action tonight, as they travel to Land O'Lakes in a key rivalry game.


4. Newsome (5-1)

This Week: vs Plant (Tues.), @ Gaither (Thu.)


The Newsome Lady Wolves come into this week, at #4 in the Tampa Bay softball rankings, after suffering their first loss of the season to Riverview. Seniors Lindsey Harper & McKayla Timmons are each tied for the team lead in RBI's (7) on the season. Newsome kicks off the first of a two-game week, tonight as they host Plant High School.


5. Nature Coast Tech (7-0)

This Week: Defeated Wiregrass Ranch, 11-0 (Mon.), @ Brooksville Central (Tues.), @ Citrus (Thu.)


The Nature Coast Tech Lady Sharks are inside the Top 5 for the first time this season, as they sit at #5. The Lady Sharks have not allowed a run in each of their last two games (Weeki Wachee & Wiregrass Ranch). Senior infielder Jailene Gonzalez had a team-high 3 RBI's, in their 11-0 win over Wiregrass Ranch in their last game. The Lady Sharks are back in action, tonight as they travel to Central High School in Brooksville.


6. Dunedin (9-0)

This Week: vs East Lake (Tues.), vs Archbishop Wood (PA) (Thu.)


The Dunedin Falcons might be the biggest surprise of the season so far, as they've scored nearly 13 runs per game this season. The Lady Falcons are coming off a 3-0 week, with wins over Anclote, Countryside & Hudson. The Lady Falcons have been led this season, by senior Alissa Mankiewich, who is hitting .667 & has a team-high 12 RBI's on the season. Dunedin is back in action, tonight as they host East Lake High School.


7. Academy of the Holy Names (5-1)

This Week: @ Canterbury (Wed.), vs McKeel Academy (Fri.), vs Archbishop Wood (PA) (Sat.)


The Academy of the Holy Names Jaguars have not played a game, since defeating Admiral Farragut on February 29. The Jaguars have been led this season, by junior Bella Sardja who is hitting .389 (7-18) on the season. Academy of the Holy Names is back in action, tomorrow night as they travel to Canterbury School.


8. River Ridge (6-1)

This Week: @ Gulf (Tues.)


The River Ridge Knights suffered a tough 9-8 loss to Wiregrass Ranch in their last game, back on March 5. The Lady Knights have been led this season, by Ali Storms (.533 batting average), senior Madison Vozdecky (13 RBI's) & junior Giulia Desiderio (11 hits). River Ridge is back in action, tonight as they travel to Gulf High School.


9. Robinson (8-2)

This Week: vs Sickles (Tues.), vs Freedom (Thu.)


The Robinson Knights enter the Tampa Bay high school softball rankings, for the first time this season as they check in at #9. The Lady Knights are on a two-game winning streak, as they've got wins over Chamberlain & Newsome. The Knights are led this season by senior Julia Garcia (.517 batting average), junior Jordan Stephens & junior Destiny Dehoyos who are each tied for the team lead in RBI's (8) on the season. The Knights are back in action, tonight as they host Sickles High School.


10. Steinbrenner (9-2)

This Week: @ Palm Harbor University (Tues.), @ Chamberlain (Thu.)


The Steinbrenner Lady Warriors wrap up this week's rankings, as they come in at #10. The Lady Warriors come into play this week, on a three-game winning streak (Defeating Bartow, Plant & Chamberlain). The Lady Warriors have been led this season, by sophomore Madison Frey, who is hitting .513 (20-39) & has drove in 16 runs as well so far this season. Steinbrenner will be back in action, today as they travel to Palm Harbor University.
