Tampa Bay High School Basketball Top 10 Rankings (Week 2)

1. East Lake (0-0)

This Week: vs Seminole (Tues.), @ Sunlake (Fri.)


East Lake comes into this season, as the #1 ranked team in the Tampa Bay area, with many of them projecting the Eagles to be the district favorites in District 6A-9. The Eagles will be led this season by senior guard Dionte Blanch (Murray State commit), junior forward Dean Gabrelcik & senior center Kristian Longanecker. The Eagles tipoff their season tomorrow night vs Seminole.


2. Hillsborough (0-0)

This Week: @ Bloomingdale (Tues.), @ Tampa Catholic (Thu.), vs Tampa Bay Tech (Fri.)


Hillsborough did not play last week during the Thanksgiving Break, so they'll remain as the #2 ranked team in the Tampa Bay area again this week. Hillsborough has an early season test on Thursday night, as they head to "The Castle" & take on Kobe Knox & the Tampa Catholic Crusaders. However, Hillsborough tips off their season tomorrow night at Bloomingdale High School.


3. Lakewood (0-0)

This Week: vs Northeast (Tues.), @ Montverde Academy (Fri.)


The Lakewood Spartans, are coming off a season where they were the Class 6A Runner-up. The Spartans will return UCF commit Jamille Reynolds, senior guard TJ Tampa (Iowa State Football commit), junior guard Oteman Delancy & junior forward Kareem Grant. The Spartans will be facing nationally ranked Montverde Academy on Friday night, who is led by FSU commit Scottie Barnes.


4. Tampa Catholic (0-0)

This Week: vs Booker (Tues.), vs Hillsborough (Thu.), vs Windermere (Sat.) (Breast Cancer Awareness Showcase at Oak Ridge HS)


The Tampa Catholic Crusaders come into this week, as the #4 ranked team in the Tampa Bay area. The Crusaders have been in the final four or the state championship game in each of the last four seasons under head coach Don Dziagwa. Tampa Catholic is expected to be a district favorite, as they are competing in District 4A-10.


5. Berkeley Prep (3-0)

Last Week: Defeated Bell Creek Academy 68-18, Defeated King 66-30 & Defeated Gibbs 63-41

This Week: @ Cypress Creek (Thu.)


The Berkeley Prep Buccaneers got their season started off the right foot, with a 3-0 week with wins over Bell Creek Academy, King & Gibbs. The Buccaneers have just one game this week, as they'll travel to Cypress Creek on Thursday night. The Buccaneers have been led by junior guard RJ Garcia & senior guard Kegan Karnes so far this season.


6. Anclote (0-0)

This Week: vs Hudson (Tues.), vs Sunlake (Wed.)


The Anclote Sharks stay at #6 in this week's Tampa Bay Top 10 Boys Basketball rankings, as they were off for the Thanksgiving break. The Sharks will be led this season by a pair of Palm Beach Atlantic commits in Jalen Cooper & Jakob Hester. The Sharks will tipoff their season tomorrow night vs Hudson.


7. Tampa Prep (0-0)

This Week: vs Bishop McLaughlin (Tues.), vs Bell Creek Academy (Thu.)


The Tampa Prep Terrapins enter the season, ranked as the #7 team in the Tampa Bay area. The Terrapins return senior guard Isaac Ward, senior guard Gabriel Sharp & senior forward Jaden Gray. Tampa Prep opens up the season tomorrow night, as they host Bishop McLaughlin.


8. Seffner Christian (0-0)

This Week: @ Lakewood Ranch (Tues.), @ Providence School (Fri.)


The Seffner Christian Crusaders have a challenging start to the season, as they will be taking on Lakewood Ranch (Class 8A State Semifinalist), Santa Fe Catholic (District 4A-3 Runner-up in 2018-2019) & Lake Highland Prep (District 5A-6 Runner-up in 2018-2019) in four of the team's first five games of the season. Seffner Christian is coming off a season, where they were Class 4A Runners-up.


9. Land O'Lakes (0-0)

This Week: @ Gulf (Tues.), vs River Ridge (Fri.)


The Land O'Lakes Gators will be led by dynamic duo Chase Farmer & Mekhi Perry once again this season. The Gators are coming off a 24-3 season last year & reached the regional semifinals, before losing to eventual Class 7A semifinalist Hillsborough. Land O'Lakes will tipoff their season tomorrow night at Gulf High School.


10. Santa Fe Catholic (2-0)

Last Week: Defeated Largo 70-33, Defeated Apopka 59-48

This Week: @ Bartow (Thu.), vs Sebring (Sat.) (Lakeland Challenge)


The Santa Fe Catholic Hawks are off to a 2-0 start to the season, averaging nearly 65 points per game so far. The Hawks have been led so far by senior guard Joe Stubbs, senior guard Javon Bell & junior forward Corey Warren. Santa Fe Catholic is back in action on Thursday night at Bartow High School.
