One of the most premiere power forwards in the state of Florida, has committed to the Ivy League. St. Andrew's (Boca Raton) 2020 power forward Yussif Basa-Ama announced on his Twitter account on Monday, that he has committed to Yale. However, Yale didn't offer him a scholarship for basketball until later in his recruiting process. He chose the Bulldogs over FAU, Florida Gulf Coast, Loyola-Marymount, Oklahoma, USF, West Virginia & several others.
Basa-Ama, is listed as a 6'9, 200 pound power forward, plays for Team Parsons CP25 on the travel ball circuit, where he is coached by Jemel Daniels. Basa-Ama is also teammates with 2021 small forward Alex Fudge, who attends Lee High School in Jacksonville.
During the high school season, Basa-Ama plays at St. Andrew's High School in Boca Raton, where he is coached by John O'Connell. In 30 games, for St. Andrew's last season, Basa-Ama averaged 16.2 points per game, 10.8 rebounds per game, 2.6 assists per game & 2.1 blocks per game.
After moving from Ghana, when he was in 8th grade, Basa-Ama didn't start playing basketball until his sophomore year of high school. Basa-Ama was one of the top performers at the Atlanta Jam back in April, that was presented by Hoopseen.
"Expect a big high school season for one of the biggest premier names, not just in Palm Beach County, but the state of Florida", according to Basa-Ama's high school head coach John O'Connell.
