Southern Illinois landed on Thursday afternoon, one of the most premiere 2-way players in the state of Florida, as Orlando Christian Prep guard Eric Butler announced his commitment on social media. Butler chose Southern Illinois over schools such as Drexel, Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, Florida International, Saint Louis, UMKC & Wyoming.
Butler, is listed as a 6'3, 175 pound point guard who is entering his second season playing high school basketball in the Sunshine State, after spending his two seasons playing in Alabama.
Butler, plays for Team Parsons CP25 during the travel ball circuit, where he was one of the most outstanding performers at this summer's Best of the South which is hosted by Hoopseen.
Butler, has led Orlando Christian Prep to back-to-back state title appearances where the Warriors finished last season 23-6 & lost to St. John Paul II in last March's class 3A title game.
Butler, on why he chose Southern Illinois. "I thought the coaches were great when they came to visit me during a workout", I like the style of offense they play" Butler added.
Butler, on his goals for his senior season. "Just to continue to improve my game, working hard in the gym each and every day."
