STORY: Former Jefferson standout quarterback Stephen Garcia named QB's coach at Bishop McLaughlin

On Monday night, former Jefferson & University of South Carolina standout quarterback Stephen Garcia has found a coaching gig.


Garcia, has been named quarterbacks coach at Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School, where the Hurricanes have started the 2019 season with a record of 0-4. The Hurricanes are a very young team this year, with just 11 seniors on this year's roster, but most of the starters have very little experience at the varsity level.


Garcia, would spend his time training the young Tampa Bay area quarterbacks & helping them exceed at the varsity level. Garcia, graduated from Jefferson High School in 2007 & would eventually become a 4-year starter at the University of South Carolina from 2008-2011. Garcia was 20-14 in his career at South Carolina, throwing for 7,597 passing yards, had 47 touchdown passes & 41 interceptions in his collegiate career.


Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco on the Garcia hire. "I have watched Stephen Garcia mentor players, his passion for the game and ability to instruct and to expand on the fundamentals is extraordinary."
