BROOKSVILLE, Fla.- If you don't know the name Contae Cason, you might want to now. The junior running back has already surpassed his rushing yards total from a year ago, in just the first 3 games of the season.
Cason already has 53 carries, for 715 rushing yards & 15 touchdowns for the Central High School Bears football team & has led them to their first 3-0 start in school history. Central is currently under their 3rd head coach in 3 years, with Robert Walden taking over the duties this year.
Cason is leading the nation in touchdowns as a running back, is ranked 3rd in the nation in rushing yards & 2nd in the state. (trailing Lake Wales RB Johnny Richardson, 749) Cason is coming off a 32 carries, 266 rushing yards & 6 rushing touchdown performance on Monday, where they defeated Belleview, 41-32.
Cason already has 3 runs of 100 yards this season, which is leading the state, while no one else in the state of Florida has more than 1. The 5'10 running back is on pace to break former Nature Coast running back Deshawn Smith's record of 3715 rushing yards & 60 touchdowns, which was set in the 2015 season.
Cason has not received any scholarship offers as of yet, but if he can keep up this torrid pace he is on, expect some colleges to be interested in the junior running back.
