On Saturday afternoon, The ACC conference added a speedster to their 2020 class, as Godby (Tallahassee) wide receiver Avery Boyd announced his commitment to Georgia Tech. Boyd chose the Yellow Jackets over Central Florida, Southern Miss, South Florida & Troy University.
Boyd, a 6'2, 190 pound receiver has never played football until last fall, where a group of Godby coaches saw him run track last year. Boyd ran the 100 yard dash in 11.47 seconds, along with the 200 yard dash in 22.36 seconds. According to Godby head football coach Brandon McCray, Boyd is also "physical to go along with his quickness." Last May, at the Georgia Tech team camp, Boyd ran a 4.36 40 yard dash & also has a 36 inch vertical.
Boyd became the 20th Georgia Tech commit in the Class of 2020, joining Trinity Christian cornerback Miles Brooks, Deerfield Beach wide receiver Bryce Gowdy, Lennard offensive lineman Michael Rankins, Plant quarterback Tucker Gleason, Crestview offensive lineman Cade Kootsouradis & South Miami defensive end Khaya Wright as members from the Sunshine State.
Boyd was committed to join Georgia Tech by wide receivers coach Kerry Dixon. McCray on Boyd's commitment. "It's a great school & a great fit for him, I couldn't be more proud of him."
