As some of you may or may not know already, this week's game of the week will feature the Calvary Christian Warriors & the Victory Christian Storm. The game will take place on Friday night at Victory Field, on the campus of Southeastern University in Lakeland. Kickoff will be scheduled for 7:00pm.
Calvary Christian comes in with a record of 5-1 & are coming off a 46-0 win vs Carrollwood Day last week. Calvary Christian senior quarterback Harold Cook finished 11/17, for 247 passing yards & threw 2 touchdown passes in the win last week. Junior running back Kai Martin had 5 carries, for 97 rushing yards & had a rushing touchdown in the win last week. Junior wide receiver Richie Ilarraza had 4 receptions, for 88 receiving yards in the win last week. A name to watch on the defensive side of the ball, will be sophomore linebacker Jaeden Atkins, who led the team in tackles last week. Sophomore London Hall, senior Jett Smith & junior Charles Stevens each had an interception last week.
Victory Christian comes in with a record of 6-0 & are coming off a 19-13 win vs Berkeley Prep last week. Despite the win, senior quarterback Jeremiah Byrd had just 34 passing yards last week vs Berkeley Prep. Junior running back Cornelius Shaw led the Storm in rushing last week, as he had 15 carries for 91 rushing yards (6.1 yards/carry). Freshman wide receiver Preston Smith had 3 catches, for 22 receiving yards, a receiving touchdown & also threw the game-winning touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Keyshawn Covington. Junior linebacker Gabe Jean-Simon was a force on defense last week, as he led the way with 18 tackles.
