One of the Tampa Bay area's premier athletes is closing in on announcing a college decision. Clearwater Central Catholic defensive lineman Jerzhan Newton's list of schools is now down to just 5. Newton will choose between Central Florida, Florida State, Kansas State, Maryland & South Florida.
Newton visited with Maryland back in June, and the Terps wasted no time giving him an offer. Newton, a 6'3, 250 pound prospect is listed as the 55th ranked defensive end in the nation, according to 247Sports.
Newton in 2018, recorded a total of 38 tackles & had 6 sacks, in just 7 games for the Marauders. On Friday, Newton recorded 4 tackles, in their loss at Berkeley Prep.
According to the 247Sports crystal ball projections, there is a 78% chance that Newton will commit to UCF, followed by a tie at 11% between Florida State & Maryland.
